KORG iKaossilator App Reviews

Anybody can jam

I owned an original Kaossilator, which I love. This app is very similar to the idea of the original, yet expands on it by allowing longer looping, allowing you to create and view your recordings, then mix them in a grid pattern similar to session view in Ableton, and allows you to erase any one piece of the song at a time rather than only being able to layer over your last recording with no option of returning, as was the case with the hardware. This app is easy to use for anyone... Just set a key and scale, touch your finger to the pad and go. Ive made cool songs with my 6 (now7) yr old niece. The only thing I prefer about the original are SOME of the sounds. That said, this incorporates cool sounds as well and has downloadable soundpacks I believe. Great app for simple beat construction, quickly recording an idea, or just for fun. Would recommend.

Really? This is just another music toy

Shame on me for not reading the description before hitting the buy button. The original effect box has been a go too for creative sound mangling, so my intent was to use it in the fx chain within audiobus. Wrong. If you want a cute little edm tune maker have fun. Serious musicians may want to pass on this one.

Was good for a time...

...but there is no way to import sounds. And the look needs a refresh. Still looks like iOS 5/6. Really needs an optional scale grid, too and some more expansion packs. Its been more than a year!

Thumbs up

Cool App

It takes a musical genius to create real music on this Korg App

Not worth the price.

You cant create your own sounds nor import anything. Its basically a music box you can mix pre existing beats with. I expected way more from Korg

Fun

Like super fun! Of course we could ask more of this App like more sounds and more depth of structure but thats not a knock, this app is a blast!

its so so-so

Like so many Korg (and Roland and Yamaha) instruments, this app takes a Frankenstein @ the kitchen sink approach. If it provided a higher quality of much less itd be a lot better. Many many sounds, sure; a scant handful of which sound or feel okay. The coolest snippets you create start sounding an aw-aw-awful lot alike... A gadgety gimmick, more toy then tool. I paid 10 bucks, so whos the fool?

Useful for Me

I got this because I was looking for some deep bass sounds to insert into my live show. The bass sounds ended up being okayish, but there are enough sounds in here that theres a strong chance everyone will find some that they like. I like several of the Leads, the Acoustics --while not sounding especially acoustic-- do sound interesting, and there are a bunch of the sound effects ones that I really like. Would be great if future versions were more customizable and had MIDI, but I still have to say it was well worth the price.

Great musicians tool

This app will not magically make you a professional music making machine. But if you have a basic understanding of musical scales and chord progressions you can really make some amazing sounding stuff with this app. You will need to dedicate some time into getting the hang of the interface, but once you understand everything that this app is capable of, someone is going to hand you an aux cable and you will really feel like a DJ dropping your own songs and beats. The downside is that once youve spent enough time with the app, you will start wanting more instruments and drum kits to be added in an update, but that has yet to happen. However, I still believe this app deserves the whole 5 stars because I have not once had a single regret about purchasing this app.

Good sound ,bat need a mixer and control volumen emergency

Good sound ,bat need a mixer and control gain emergency ...

Great Fun

This is the one instrument Id have to have if I was alone on a desert island and couldnt bring a jazz guitar. Great fun, doesnt have to be real serious, but could be if you had something special.

I stopped recording to write this

My patterns got ruined during an update or after deleting ancouplemofnmt own loops. Destroyed tons of music. I love it but sheesh. Lesson learned: save EVERYTHING AS AUDIO Ive been making electronic music for almost 20 years. And it wouldnt be an exaggeration to say this is the most fun, creative, useful, expressive, and productive tool Ive ever see hardware or software. I cant believe anyone would write any bad reviews if youre truly an electronic musician and have a brain. This thing does things, thanks to the amazing writers, that I wouldnt have come up with if it werent for the amazing awesome timing and stretch calculator it has going on. Writers, who ever you are, and korg, I appreciate you and your hard work. If I actually ever decide to release any music it will be because of you and all the tools of yours I used.

Best $20 Ive ever spent!

Ive been playing guitar for 30 years and in the past Ive thought of how cool an app like this could be. Just get it!! If you like to make music and you have an iPhone, this is the app!!!

Arpeggiator and more Sound Sets

Please add an arpeggiator, and continue to develop more sounds to add to it, more sound sets please! Thanks

Please update it

Please add additional sound and some other features.

Fun and productive

It is a lot of fun and some of the music you make can get that infectious groove. Five tracks is plenty but wist never works for me.
